SFF-LD held it’s Second Steering Committee on the 19th of November 2016


MOGADISHU, 19 November 2016 – The Federal Ministry of Finance held second Steering Committee (SC) meeting for the Special Financing Facility for Local Development (SFF-LD) in Mogadishu.

SFF-LD program aims to support the construction and reconstruction of new and damaged infrastructure for local service delivery in targeted areas of Somalia and support the development of public investment management functions.

H.E Mahmoud Hayir Ibrahim, Ministry of Finance Deputy Ministry chaired the meetings and attendees included representatives from Federal Member States of South-West Sate, Jubaland, HirShabelle, Galmudug and Puntland as well as representative from the World Bank. The SC members are oversight body tasked to provide operational guidance including approval of work plans for the program, reviewing SFF-LD performance and providing advisory role in adjustments to its management and future operations in light of lessons learned
from implementation.

Highlight of the outcome of the meeting include approval of the SFF-LD Phase II Regions Level of interventions and Endorsement of Operational Manual. Additionally, the newly recruited Regional Project Officers were introduced to
the members of the SC for their respective Federal Member State.

SC members encouraged intergovernmental coordination and consensus on how crucial infrastructure work should be undertaken across Somalia.
