Funding Sources SFF-LD
WORLD BANK MULTI-PARTNER FUND (WB MPF):
The SFF-LD program in line with the broader objective of the Somali Development reconstruction facility (SDRF) and the multi partner fund (MPF) successfully applied for funding amounting to USD 6 million that would finance its planned sub projects in five regions, benefiting more than 1 million people in targeted regions through construction and rehabilitation of priority infrastructural projects. In addition the interventions are expected to support the central and peripheral administrations in their capacity to deliver public services and strengthen their legitimacy. The program is also expected to provide short term job opportunities to approximately 2000 people around the project location.
UNITED NATIONS MULTI-PARTNER FUND (UN MTF):
The SFF-LD program will concurrently implement sub – projects totaling to 2 million from the United Nations multipartner trust fund (UN MTF). The amount is expected to finance rehabilitation of three small scale infrastructures; rehabilitating the regional and district court house in Kismayo , provision of solar streetlights in Benadir region and a 3 rd project to be identified by PIU from the remaining eligible regions. The Program is geared towards supporting the Federal government to independently deliver tangible services to its citizens by developing its capacity to conduct community consultations, design, manage and implement small scale infrastructure projects. In Both project, the Ministry of Finance will assume full programmatic and financial accountability for the funds disbursed to them in line with the principles of national ownership enshrined in the New Deal Compact. A Project Implementation Unit (PIU) has been established within the ministry of Finance to operate the program and provide project management responsibility.
